BMS News: Screenagers Follow-up Discussion: On Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, the BMS PTO will be sponsoring a follow-up panel discussion from last month’s viewing of Screenagers for all parents. The purpose of the panel discussion is to answer questions and discuss our roles in best supporting children growing up in the digital age. The panel will consist of Dr. Dillon (Assistant Superintendent of Schools), Dr. Anderson (BMS Principal), Mrs. Canario (District Social Worker), Officer Melo (District Resource Officer), and Dr. Levy (parent and family physician). We look forward to engaging in productive conversation. Our current quotes are as follows:
Bicycle Safety: On a typical sunny day, BMS can have upwards to 300 students riding their bikes to school. This a great testament to the community in which we live. With the number of bikers, cars, walkers, and busses converging at BMS at the same time, safety has to be our number one priority. Please review the below safety points with your children if they are one of the many riding their bikes to school:
Drop-Off Procedures: As the weather gets colder, we will be sure to have more cars dropping their children off in the morning. Last year, Mrs. Bulk and I created videos to demonstrate morning drop-off procedures for those who come to school with the Middle School on your left. These procedures are designed to improve student safety and to improve the flow of traffic in the morning. BMS Drop-off Procedure The above procedures apply after all buses have dropped off (after the cones have been moved). IF DROPPING OFF WHEN THE CONES ARE BLOCKING THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC FOR THE BUSES, PLEASE BE SURE TO LOOK LEFT BEFORE EXITING THE DROP-OFF LANE. BUSES MAY BE COMING UP ON YOUR LEFT! Drop Off Procedures for BMS Coming from the North: Drop off all students in the front horseshoe. Coming from the South: Drop off in the green cone zone. Shark Tank: 8th grade students in the STEAM Studio and the Entrepreneurship class have been working on creating their own businesses with prototypes. At the end of the trimester they will be doing a "Shark Tank" style presentation for the community. We are in need of volunteers to come Judge the presentations and if you have the time would appreciate your help. The students have been working hard and have some great ideas that we are sure you would enjoy seeing.
